Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) in St Albans, London & Hertfordshire

Portable Appliance Testing, or PAT Testing, applies to all electrical equipment connected by a plug & socket-outlet and is the procedure by which electrical appliances are regularly checked to ascertain they are safe for use.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation clearly states that all employers have a legal obligation to maintain all electrical equipment in order to ensure a safe working environment, and it is the responsibility of the duty holder to see that this obligation is met. The regulations apply to small businesses and the self-employed as well as larger organisations.

PAT testing, carried out by qualified and competent personnel is the best way to ensure that electrical equipment is safe and conforms to the Electricity at Work Regulations. Every type of portable electrical appliance should be inspected and tested regularly, and recorded. This includes all electrically operated items such as computers, printers, kettles, fridges, extension leads, vacuum cleaners, power tools etc., along with 110v equipment.
